What is Rise&Shine?
Rise&Shine is an easy-to-use application that is designed to help you wake up in the morning(on time). It is also useful for starting your mac up at certain times to do various tasks. To the best of my knowledge, R&S will work only with the new PowerMacs(7200, 7500, 8500 and 9500 series). But, if you have one of the newer PowerMacs not included in this list, give it a try. To use R&S, you simply set a startup time and alarm mode. When your done using your mac, shut it down. Your Mac will now turn itself on at the time that you specified and execute the alarm sequence.
A word from the author:
I find it very hard to wake up at the time that I say I will the night before. With this dilemma in mind, I wrote Rise&Shine to help me wake up on time. I find it very effective. When my Mac turns itself on, it usually wakes me up. But, it is not enough to actually get me out of bed and going. When my Mac starts to play loud and annyoing sounds, I sit in bed and think to myself 'ok... I can tolerate the noise...' I'm usually up within a few seconds of the startup time and am up and running on time.
Since its conception, R&S has expanded into more than just an advanced alarm clock. I have many interesting and exciting ideas that I plan to incorporate into future versions. I hope you will find R&S as useful as I do. Have fun. And by the way, No I didn't get the idea for this program from "that Apple commercial!" I started R&S long before the commercial's debut.

Using Rise&Shine
If Rise&Shine will not work on your machine, then it will promptly notify you and quit. So, if it runs, then it will work on your Mac. To install R&S, drag the "Rise&Shine" application to your "Startup Items" folder. In order for the alarm features to work properly, you must keep "Rise&Shine" in the "Startup Items" folder. Once it is installed, hold down the "control" key while opening the application to set a startup time. Use "Set wake up time..." from the "File" menu to set a wake up time. The features are fairly straight-forward. Specify a time for your computer to start up. Set the time for start up to either "Today" or "Tomorrow"( the LE version is limited to Today and Tomorrow, the registered version has a calendar system with support for multiple startup dates). Next, choose an alarm mode to wake up with. The LE version supports three modes: "Birds", "Bells", and "No alarm." Different sounds will be played for each of the different modes. If "No alarm" is selected, then your Mac will simply start up at the specified time without playing sounds. To disable the startup and alarm process, simply click on the "Disable" button from within "Set wake up time..." Now shut down your Mac before the set wake up time, and at that time, your Mac will turn itself on and execute the alarm sequence.
